Sound Earth Beginnings

2003

In February Sound Earth officially opened it's doors for business (then named Clearly Natural).

We joined Stony Kill Environmental Education Center for their Earth Day celebration - our first show.

In August, owner Ann LaGoy sold Home Assistance Cleaning Service™ to long time employees Jose and Cecilia Bernabe to focus on manufacturing natural cleaning products.

2004

Sound Earth is recognized as a cruelty free company by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics. We pledge the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals. Please view the Compassionate Shopping Guide for other cruelty free companies. Sound Earth's policy on animal testing.

Speaking EngagementOwner Ann LaGoy was invited to speak about the affects chemicals in the environment have on our bodies at the annual Scarborough Fair at the Mills Mansion, organized by the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Dutchess County. This was the first of many speaking engagements since. Audiences from Dutchess County Environmental Management Council, West Point, Vassar College, the Unitarian Fellowship of Poughkeepsie, and the American Association of University Women have benefited from Ann's research on this subject. Ann LaGoy is recognized by the Poughkeepsie Journal as a young entrepreneur setting a positive example in business that benefits the environment.

Sound Earth participated in the Great Hudson River Revival, for the first time, with the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. We have participated every year since.

Grocery ShoppingSound Earth opened it's wholesale market. Our first two retail stores: Adams Fairacre Farm, Poughkeepsie, and Nature's Pantry, Newburgh. Our hats off to these fine stores for helping us get started!

2005

Sound Earth changed it's name from Clearly Natural to better capture the essence of the company. Learn more about our philosophy and business practices.

Sound Earth pledges 10% of its profits to local, national, and international not-for-profit organizations. A pledge still held today.

Ann LaGoy's first published article appeared in the Poughkeepsie Journal: Products Can Harbor Hazards.

2006

Manufacturing FacilitySound Earth gets out of the kitchen! Until the summer of '06, all production of SE products was conducted in the the owner's kitchen. This was the year we moved into our manufacturing facility.

Sound Earth branched out to the state of Connecticut with their wholesale accounts. We are now in seven CT stores!

Sound Earth introduces the Body Guard bug repellant to our line of products.

In anticipation of Sound Earth's new logo and labels, work begins with local artist Peggy Farrington who helps bring our fun characters to life.

2007

Sound Earth was granted status of Woman-Owned Business Enterprise by the Division of Minority and Women's Business Development of the State of New York.

Sound Earth LogoThe launch of Sound Earth's new logo and labels was finally completed! After many months of consideration and effort, the first phase of Sound Earth's new labels appear on the shelves of retail stores.

Sound Earth receives the Environmental Responsibility Award from the Senior America's Team Green.

Sound Earth received help from a NASA funded program called SATOP (Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program) to improve the formulation of the Velvet Hammer! Read our story: Solution 399

2008

To celebrate 5 years in business Sound Earth representatives visit all of our stores to share our fabulous line of products with new customers. We handed out free samples and demonstrated the products.

Artwork began for phase two of our new labels, which includes a new look for our scented sprays and baby line.

Ann LaGoy co-founds the Women's Peer to Peer Business Solutions Group based in Yorktown Heights

Sound Earth introduces the GreasEraser to it's line of cleaners.

2009

Sound Earth joins the Fishkill Business Association.

Continuing efforts to serve our community, Sound Earth organizes and co-sponsors the Historic Bicycle Tour of Olde Fishkill.

To better serve our customers, Sound Earth phases out of retail outlets, and focuses on internet business.

2010

Sound Earth increases resource material available to our visitors through FaceBook, Twitter, and our Blog.
