Isopropanol (isopropal alcohol)

Isopropanol is a colorless, highly flammable liquid with a strong odor.

Uses: cleaning fluid, sterilizing and solvents.

Found in: glass cleaners, lotions, aerosol applications such as waxes, polishes, paints, de-icers, shoe and sock sprays, insect repellants, hair sprays, deodorants, and air-fresheners . Rubbing alcohol contains about 70% isopropanal.

Effects: Acute: irritates mucous membranes. Ingestion results in drowsiness, unconsciousness and/or death. Chronic: may inhibit fetal growth.
