Nitrobenzene

Nitrobenzene is a highly toxic, oily, yellow liquid with an almond-like odor.

Uses: manufacture a chemical called aniline, produce lubricating oils such as those used in motors and machinery, used as a solvent in the manufacture of dyes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and synthetic rubber.

Found in: dyes, pharmaceuticals, floor polishes, paint solvents.

Effects: Acute: central nervous system depression, severely effects the circulatory system, corrosive to skin. Chronic: Repeated exposures to high levels of nitrobenzene result in a blood disorder in people, and it is a suspected carcinogen.
