Parabens (family)

Types: methyl-, ethyl-, p-Propyl-, isobutyl-, n-Butyl-, and benzyl-.

Uses: a class of chemicals widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

Found in: blushes, eye shadows, lipsticks, foundations, topical pharmaceuticals, toothpaste and underarm deodorant.

Effects: endocrine disruptor, mimics the hormone estrogen, and because breast cancer is a hormonally driven disease most breast cancers respond to estrogen.
