Trichloroethylene (TCE)

Trichloroethylene is a clear, colorless, non-flammable liquid with a sweet smell.

Uses: solvent to remove grease from metal parts, degreaser.

Found in: adhesives, paint removers, typewriter correction fluids, rug cleaning fluids, and spot removers.

Effects: Acute: headaches, lung irritation, dizziness, poor coordination, difficulty concentrating, and central nervous system depression resulting in general anesthesia, unconsciousness or death. Chronic: Breathing it for long periods may cause nerve, kidney, and liver damage, and it is a suspected carcinogen.
