The Story of Cosmetics
Categories: Chemicals

Annie Leonard and Safe Cosmetics are at it again! Another fantastic story; this time about cosmetics.

Mentioned in this video is a point I just can’t get my head around: why are cosmetic companies like Revlon not called out more often for donating money to cancer research, yet still using carcinogens in their products? Just stop using the carcinogenic ingredients, and do us all a favor!

Check out the video.

Actually, I read that companies making carcinogenic products deliberately fund cancer research to keep the research focused on “war against cancer” instead of “PREVENTION of cancer”. Found this out in an absolutely mindboggling book: The Secret History of the War on Cancer by Devra Davis, MD. I can’t recommend this book enough!

The book just arrived in the mail! Thanks for the suggestion to read it. I opened, and flipped the pages really quick. Came across this quote, and oh boy, it is SO true:
It’s difficult to get a man to understand something, if his salary depends on him not understanding it. Upton Sinclair.
This seems accurate in so many fields.
