Juno Rescued Beagle

I first heard of Juno’s story about a year ago, when the rescue of 120 laboratory Beagles was posted on I was fascinated by the efforts of the group involved in her rescue, and learned some of them found forever homes close by. I then had the privilege of meeting Juno at the Beacon Barks! event last April. She is one of the millions of reasons Sound Earth is vegan and cruelty free.

Juno graces our home page as September’s Charity of the Month. She is traveling to Las Vegas for the No More Homeless Pets National Conference, and Sound Earth is going to help get her there. Juno will be spreading the cruelty free love, and lots of samples from companies that share a commitment to no animal testing.

Her story as submitted to the Best Animal Rescue Contest:

My name is Juno and I am a rescued beagle. In July of 2010 Best Friends Animal Society, Pet’s Alive Sanctuary and other area groups rescued me and 119 other beagles from a testing laboratory in New Jersey. For the first time I was seeing things I never saw before, sunshine on my face, grass under my feet, a family to love me and for the first time in my life a name. In the beginning I was afraid of a lot of things; rain, the deer in the field at night and loud noises. I didn’t even know how to go potty outside. My family had a lot of patience and with the help of my furry brother Max and sister Raven I have learned how to just be a dog. In June of 2011 I took and passed my therapy dog evaluation. I am now a certified therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International. I have so much love in my heart that I have to share it with people who are lonely and less fortunate than me. I also have my own Facebook page and website where I educate people about animal testing and help them to make good choices when shopping for household and personal care products. One of the founding fathers of Best Friends Animal Society has called me ”an ambassador for lab tested animals everywhere”. I see it as my job to help people to make good choices because together we can bring about an end to animal testing. If you vote for me I will make sure that the money donated will go to one of the organizations who helped to rescue all of us doggies from an unthinkable fate. Remember to always give your best wags to everybody and that each of us votes every time we purchase a product either for or against animal testing. Please choose wisely. Thank you. Luv n Wags, Juno
