I recently came across this post by Heather Moore. I am delighted there are other individuals questioning the logic of marketing products under the guise of increasing breast cancer awareness and raising money for research when said products can actually lead to breast cancer! Anything to make a buck??
Equally appalling are the cosmetic companies that raise money for breast cancer research through their “feel good” pink products, runs, and walks… with products that very likely cause breast cancer. It is troubling to me that Avon, Revlon, Estee Lauder and Mary Kay, for example, are well known for championing women’s causes, while each of these companies market products containing dangerous chemicals to the very demographic they claim to help.
It’s new to me to address this same issue with food product companies, but not at all surprising.
